Today Eric began his first cub daycamp as a wolf and Christopher is going as a den chief. They had a great time. Giant waterslide, archery, lots of activities that boys love.
A young man in our ward (16 yrs. old), Sam Lawrence died last Tuesday of a sudden heart attack. He was an amazing youth. He was just ordained a priest in our church, loved scouting, good with kids. He was doing a triathalon at scout camp - running- those watching said all of a sudden he got a funny look on his face and collapsed. His dad was there, was surrounded by the young men and leaders of our ward. He's #6 of 8 children. The funeral was attended by, Kevin figured around 1000 people. It is so comforting to know where he is and to have the restored Gospel. Obviously, very trying time for the parents and family- but they all spoke and said how this experience is strengthening their testimonies. This has reminded me how important our daily tasks and activities are. It also reminds me that the restored Gospel has been given to us especially for times like this. I am so grateful this came into my life. The kids did great....they wanted to go to the viewing. As we passed by, I reminded them that his spirit wasn't in his body anymore. Not many questions from them.
fhe tonight since Kevin had to work yesterday- Megan made cupcakes, made homemade frosting and decorated the cupcakes with an icing tip. So proud of her. We read from the Friend magazine- President Eyring teaching about how people are guides and rescuers that Heavenly Father places in our lives. I love family home evening.
What a day. I found this quote on another mom's blog- famous poet-
"normal day-let me be aware of the treasure you are."

4th of july
pancakes from scratch, poppers, homemade lemonade, onion dip, hamburgers, potato salad, watermelon, ice cream sandwiches, lots of handheld American flags, glow bracelets- am I forgetting anything?
Kevin is working...was thinking of taking the kids to Palmdale to view some fireworks, but the forecast is thunderstorms and potential flash flooding-that made my decision pretty easy.
Happy 4th!
